Big Gees Waterhaul Victory 2024
The Big Gees Wildlife Drinker is located in the Cady Mountains South of Afton Canyon. This has to be one of the most geologically diverse areas and one could spend days exploring these remote canyons. The route into the drinker starts in a wide wash and eventually crosses the bajada and drops into a narrow twisting rocky canyon ending 15 miles later at a waterfall with the drinker system. The water level at this drinker was dropping quickly from the lack of rain and heavy usage by the Bighorn Sheep. However, the route had been damaged last year with flashfloods, making a water haul impossible. With the cooperation of the CDFW and the BLM we received permission to take some equipment in to repair the flood damage route and 2,700 gallons of water were delivered in 118° temperatures.
